Calleja Studio is the company formed by the team that works for the artist Javier Calleja in the management and administration of his work. Since 2017, after the success of his exhibition in Hong Kong where everything was sold and a waiting list was opened to acquire his work, his recognition in the Asian continent has spread to the rest of the planetary geography and he receives calls from galleries from all over the world. Hence the importance of this area to respond to administrative tasks while he creates.
Javier Calleja‘s work is difficult to define and he flees from the labels of criticism and the links that relate him to influences from pop, comics or Japanese manga. His work “drinks from everything” and claims it as Mediterranean art for its emotion, for being born from the heart.
His work highlights the mixture of naivety and irony, tenderness and sarcasm. Aesthetically, the play of volumes and color stand out. Behind its apparent simplicity there is a meticulous work until its characters give the sensation of life. A good example of this is to verify that the phases of the process, from the sketch to the final production, last a year.
Brida studio had to deal with all this when it reinterpreted his work in terms of corporate identity. From the plans of evocation, the messages and the symbols of Javier Calleja‘s universe to creating a visual discourse consistent with his artistic proposal.
Duality was the axis that cemented this project. The characters’ own dialogue is transferred to messages where they play with the formal and irreverent, the warmth of creation and the coldness of management, the author and the active receiver… Achieving that interpellation of the artist’s messages in his corporate elements.
With regard to Minke’s production work, we look for a warm material, in a tonality typical of the artist’s palette, with a pleasant touch. The paper is the Keaykolour Biscuit. The strength of the visual system, represented in text and graphic resources, has been evidenced with the offset impression of an intense black. The game of volumes with blind emboss. Combination that continues with the meticulous and at first sight simple line of Javier Calleja but that deep down generates strength and dynamism.
